LAST 201 (3) Latin American Culture I An introduction to the study of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean through an interdisciplinary approach to the history and culture of the area. The historical, political, social, artistic and economic complexities of the region will be emphasized. Faculty from relevant departments will participate. V4 LAST 202 (3) Latin American Culture II An introduction to the study of South America through an interdisciplinary approach to the history and culture of the continent. The historical, political, social, artistic and economic complexities of the region will be emphasized. Faculty from relevant departments will participate. V4 LAST 261 (1) Directed Study The study of introductory level material by an individual student or by a small group of students under the immediate supervision of a faculty member. Prerequisites: One LAST course and permission of instructor. LAST 302 (3) Special Topics in Latin American Studies An exploration of a specific topic in Latin American studies. Topics will vary by semester and the course may be repeated for credit when course content changes. Prerequisite: One LAST course V4 LAST 361 (1) Special Study The study of an intermediate level topic by an individual student or by a small group of students under immediate supervision of a faculty member. Prerequisites: One 200-level LAST course and permission of instructor. LAST 377 (1) Internship This course is graded P/CR/NC only. Prerequisites: Three credits in LAST and permission of instructor, department chair, and dean. LAST 461 (1) Independent Study Pursuit of an upper level research project determined in advance by the student in consultation with a faculty member who will act as the sponsor. Prerequisites: Two 200-level LAST courses and permission of instructor, department chair, and dean.
